About Shichirigahama Beach

Shichirigahama is a beautiful coastal area located in the southwest part of Kamakura City, Japan, facing the scenic Sagami Bay. The beach stretches with a wide sandy shoreline. It is conveniently accessible, just a 3-minute walk from Shichirigahama Station on the Enoshima Electric Railway, or approximately a 12-minute walk from Kamakura-Koko-Mae Station.

Kamakura is famous as an ancient capital with many temples and shrines. While exploring the sights of Kamakura, it is highly recommended to make a stop at Shichirigahama to enjoy the sunset and the ocean. This coastal area, surrounded by beautiful nature, is an ideal place to relax and relieve everyday stress.

The sea at Shichirigahama offers excellent conditions for surfing and windsurfing. The waves have a beautiful shape, the size is suitable, and the wind is calm, making it an ideal spot for many surfers and windsurfers. The area also has well-equipped facilities such as surf shops, catering to both beginners and advanced enthusiasts.


The renowned Japanese ukiyo-e artist, Katsushika Hokusai, also depicted this area in his works. His collection called “Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji” is highly acclaimed worldwide as one of his masterpieces. This collection includes 36 ukiyo-e prints featuring Mount Fuji, and one of them showcases Shichirigahama.

The level crossing near Kamakura-Koko-Mae Station became famous as a location in the popular Japanese anime series “Slam Dunk.”


From this location, you can enjoy magnificent views. While gazing at the coastline, you can appreciate the beautiful scenery of Mount Fuji and Enoshima.
